We're Here to Help

We look forward to caring for your student's healthcare needs during the school year! Please let us know if there is anything we should know about your student. Our primary role is to ensure your student is safe and their healthcare needs are met at KCS.

If your child has a medical condition (food allergies, asthma, diabetes, seizures, etc.) that may require a health plan, don't hesitate to contact our Health Clerk, Nickey Carlson, to discuss it.

When Your Child is Sick

This is a question many students and parents ask. Remember that immediate care at home will shorten the period of illness and prevent infection of schoolmates. Children should remain at home or may be sent home from school for the following reasons:

  • Temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher in the past 24 hours without fever-reducing medications
  • Vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Suspicious skin conditions
  • Signs of other acute illnesses

If placed on antibiotics, a child must be on the antibiotics for at least 24 hours before returning to school.

When students are ill at school, an attempt is made first to contact the parents. If we cannot reach the parent, the person listed as the emergency contact will be notified.
