Kaleidoscope is a Public Charter School of Choice. We are a caring community of educators that embraces each student's unique talents and motivates them to emerge as confident and curious contributors to the world.

    Founded: 2004

Location: Otsego, 1 mile north of the Albertville Outlet Mall. Students attending Kaleidoscope reside in Elk River, St. Michael, Albertville, Rogers, Hanover, Monticello, Zimmerman, Big Lake, Princeton and a number of other communities.

Our Authorizer: Charter schools in Minnesota must have an authorizer. The primary purpose of all charter schools in the state is to “improve all pupil learning and student achievement” (Minn Stat. 124E.01, Subd. 1). Authorizers responsibilities monitoring, evaluating, and, if necessary, closing charter schools when goals are not met. Kaleidoscope’s authorizer is Volunteers of America (VOA). Kaleidoscope's contract with VOA runs through 2021.

Our Schools: We are made up of three schools on a one-building campus. Kaleidoscope Elementary School serves students in kindergarten through 5th grade. 6th through 8th-grade students attend Kaleidoscope Middle School. Kaleidoscope High School serves students in 9th through 12th grade.

Our Students: Kaleidoscope Charter School provides education to approximately 600 students. We have seen a 20%+ increase in enrollment in the last three years.

Our Small Class Sizes: As a public charter school, Kaleidoscope Charter School is allowed to limit their class sizes. Kindergarten classes are limited to 18 students, and all other classes are capped at 24. We have a 14 to 1 ratio of students to licensed teachers.

Our Employees: The district is governed by a nine-person elected board and employs 85 staff members.
