School Board

As the governing body of Kaleidoscope Charter School, the KCS School Board has the following responsibilities:

 

  • Adopting a strategic plan and monitoring progress towards achieving the goals it creates
  • Creating school policies
  • Hiring and supervising the Executive Director, who is the only employee who reports directly to the KCS School Board
  • Ratifying employee agreements
  • Establishing and approving the annual budget
  • Communicating with stakeholders
 

2023-2024 KCS SCHOOL BOARD GOALS


GOAL #1: MAINTAIN FISCAL INTEGRITY & ACCOUNTABILITY OF SCHOOL

 

  1. Maintain a steady and diverse population by stabilizing and growing the enrollment to accommodate a broader cross section of our community.

 

  1. Develop an appropriate budget using sound budget standards and board policy that includes criteria for working with bond holders to spend down fund balance.

     

  1. Hire and retain a diverse and highly qualified workforce, offer a competitive compensation package, strengthen their skills through ongoing professional development and collaboration, and evaluate their performance on a regular basis.

 

  1. Pursue revenue sources, including grants, donations, partnerships.

 

  1. Explore and implement strategies to control costs in all areas, i.e., special education, food service, transportation, and utilities, including changing methods of program delivery and operations.

 

 

GOAL #2: STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT – MAXIMIZE THE PERFORMANCE 

OF EACH STUDENT IN ALL ACADEMIC AREAS

 

  1. Maintain a research-based professional development program that cultivates ongoing learning and  dialogue, to ensure a highly skilled teaching staff and rewarding professional environment.

 

  1. Provide an environment that maximizes learning for all students via 1) clean, safe, and well-maintained facilities; 2) appropriate class sizes based on research and resources; 3) modern equipment and technology access  to enhance learning.

 

 

GOAL #3: STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY RELATIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS

 

  1. Use public awareness of KCS accomplishments through positive/accurate reporting in all forms of media to foster community-wide relationships and support for the School and its goals. The School will establish a practice of periodically communicating through a School newsletter to the community.

 

  1. Develop and maintain a comprehensive plan for community relations that bolsters enrollment through awareness of KCS’s unique educational model.

 

  1. Continue positive connections with parents through parent education programs, KPTO/Boosters coordination and expanded use of school newsletters and websites
