Making the Kaleidoscope Choice
Kaleidoscope Charter School is a public charter school and is open to the public free of cost. Our small class sizes mean that our enrollment is limited. Families wishing to enroll for the upcoming school year should submit an application for the lottery process. Once enrolled at Kaleidoscope, students maintain their spot and do not need to reapply for upcoming school years.
An enrollment lottery will be held the first business day of February for each grade where the number of applications exceeds the number of open spots. To participate in the lottery, families must submit an application between the first business day of December and the last business day of January. Once all of the open spots are filled, the remaining students will be drawn and placed sequentially on the waiting list. Applications received after the last business day in January will be placed at the end of the waiting list in the order they are received.
Students who do not receive an open spot will be placed on the wait list in sequential order.
- Students will remain on the grade level wait list until a spot becomes available.
- As spots are accepted or declined, students will move up on the waitlist. This will continue through the remainder of the school year.
- If they are not yet admitted and want to continue to seek admission, students on the waitlist will need to reapply for the following year’s lottery.
As allowed by Minnesota law, siblings of students who are already attending Kaleidoscope will receive sibling preference in the enrollment process. These means they will be placed in front of applicants who do not have a sibling attending Kaleidoscope Charter School during the Enrollment lottery and on the waitlist. Sibling enrollment is not assumed and all siblings wishing to enroll at Kaleidoscope Charter School must submit an application prior to the deadline. This includes siblings who will be incoming Kindergarten students.
If you have questions regarding the application process, please contact Maleah Collins, our admissions coordinator.
